A better name for this blog might be Potpourri. Here I will share my writing, along with writing tips, and progress on my new career goals as a freelance writer. I hope other writers will share their experiences with me, criticisms. I also hope readers will give me feedback on my writing.
Writing is my passion -- I’ve loved to write for as long as I can remember. I was born with a pen in my hand.
I was a Navy journalist (now they are communicators) for twenty years. But, I had this grandiose idea that I wanted to be a psychologist and spent years studying psychology and after graduate school counseling substance abusers and addicts. But I needed to write so here I am a retired sailor (Journalist First Class),recovering psychologist, former substance abuse counselor and now a writer again. I'm brushing up on grammar rules, the active voice as opposed to the passive voice, researching my subject and interviewing (I never stopped interviewing -- psychologist do that all the time) but most importantly writing, rewriting and rewriting, oh and editing, editing, editing -- talk about run-on sentences:-)I'm also working on a book.
Two years ago I interviewed my much older half-brother (I wasn't born yet), who was onboard a US Navy ship at Pearl Harbor, HI December 7, 1941. My goal was to market a human interest story about his experience. I discovered there was a bigger story to tell – more on that to come.
